Directory

Price-check resources: the official places to check a price

This is a directory of official price-check resources, not a directory of facilities. Facility level prices cannot be verified nationally, so this page lists no facility prices. Instead it lists the tools run by CMS, state governments, and insurers, what each one checks, and where it stops. Use a resource to get a number, then line your numbers up in the procedure quote worksheet and confirm your price in writing before service.

Short answer: what this directory covers

This directory lists 24 official price-check resources only, and no facility prices: 5 federal resources, 15 state resources, and 4 insurer transparency tools. Every entry shows who runs it, what it checks, its coverage, its source, and its verified date.

How to use it: pick a resource below, open its official site to get a number, then line that number up in the procedure quote worksheet and confirm your price in writing before service.

Independent directory. No paid placements.

We are not paid by any organization listed here. There are no sponsored placements and no affiliate links. This directory is a free tool to help you compare your options. Listings are ordered by type (federal, state, then insurer) and alphabetically within each type. Payment does not affect ordering, because no payment is accepted.

Find a resource in 3 questions

Answer three questions, one tap each, and this finder shows a shortlist from the directory below. The finder guides you to a starting point. It never gates the directory: the full list stays on this page whether or not you use the finder.

How the shortlist is produced: your answers filter the full list by the recorded checks, type, and coverage fields. Matches keep directory order (federal, then state, then insurer, alphabetical within each type), and the first three matches are shown. No ranking or scoring is used.

Question 1 of 3: What do you need to check?

Question 2 of 3: Who should run the resource?

Question 3 of 3: Which coverage do you need?

How this directory was built

  • Every entry was read on its official page (CMS, a state government, or the insurer) on the verified date shown on the entry. Descriptions paraphrase what the official page says the resource checks.
  • No facility prices are listed. A hospital or imaging center price for your procedure has to come from that facility, in writing, for your exact CPT code and setting.
  • Ordering: federal resources first, then state resources, then insurer tools, alphabetical by name within each type. Payment does not affect ordering, because no payment is accepted.
  • Next step: take any number you find here into the procedure quote worksheet, compare it against the Medicare anchor on the procedure pages, and confirm the all-in price in writing before service.
